We live in a world that revolves around technology; everybody depends on a smartphone, a computer, a tablet, and let’s not forget about social media. No matter how much we love and admire it, we have to admit that technology has taken its toll on us. We cling to our phones, communicating with our friends through social media and text messages. We are obsessed with likes, comments, followers and filters; anything under 100 likes sends us into a crazy spiral of despair, and we don’t feel beautiful unless somebody has commented ‘Gorgeous!’ on our latest selfie. Originally developed as a method of communication, social media has grown into a monster, making us incredibly superficial and even incapable of human interaction. Although communication websites and apps encourage us to stay ‘connected’, social media has caused us to become more disconnected than ever. Whatever happened to walking over to your friend’s house to talk? Going out for fun rather than for photos to upload to Instagram? My parents are always telling me stories about how much fun they had as kids without technology, and although many teenagers shudder at the thought of living a day without sending a Snapchat, I love the idea of real communication, of living life without being attached to a device.

I've always wanted to express my opinions; whether it be about current affairs or the latest blockbuster movies. Voicing my views on things is something I've always been passionate about. I've also always had a love for writing. So why wouldn't I write about what I'm thinking? From my favourite places and foreign cities I've always wanted to visit, to my view on an issue or a review of my favourite book, I'll be writing about it.

Hello...I want my opinions to matter; whether those opinions are on topical issues, movies and books, fashion or even my favourite places and things. I won't just publish the story, I'll tell you what I think of it. So what will I be talking about? In case you haven't noticed there are some small posts on this sidebar about different things. These are a small introduction to some of the different categories that feature on my blog. WATCH ME! I mean read me...this isn't TVI think that I watch the most TV out of anyone that I know. I've managed to get through five season of a show in a month, spend an entire Saturday watching Anne Hathaway movies and I had a one week Harry Potter marathon where I watched each movie various times. How do I still have time to have a life? A world full of people...The world is filled with people. 7 Billion of them. There are people we love, people we hate, people we are obsessed with and people we can't stand. Famous people, everyday people, fictional people, real people - we can't get enough. There are people we look up to, people we look down on. And we of course are people. So what do I think of these people? So many places...Where to next? It's usually the first thing you say when you arrive at a new destination. You're excited to have finally arrived, beside yourself at the prospect of discovering what this new place has to offer. Or if you're like me, you'll be tired from the car ride, frustrated at your two brothers who have made it their life mission to annoy you. There are places we've all been to and places we want to go. Places that mean something to us and places that come with memories. So my question is, out of all these places, where to next? So this happened...Once I finished writing one of these posts (which took me over an hour and was about 1000 words) the post decided to delete itself. Hooray - I then had to re-write it (how fun). This may be pointless but I was so angry I had to share my frustration with the world (well the online world). Sorry...I know some of my posts seem to go on forever, but I really enjoy writing them so I can go on for a while. |
